Matty Sanchez

I remember the day it all began, sitting in anthropology class sketching out boats and anchors. It soon hit me that I knew what I was destined to do with my life. Tattoo.

Growing up in providence I spent most of my childhood playing outside. Didn’t spend too much time inside or watching T.V. or those kinds of things normal kids do. But I was always interested the arts, music mostly. Of course that never took my very far other than a couple of weekend tours in the New England, and if nothing else, it was fun.

My friend Andrew first introduced me to his tattoo artist Paul back in 2011. I had never been to a tattoo shop before then, and it was a great first experience stepping through that front door.

After getting tattooed by Paul for a couple years I became more and more interested in the art of tattooing. I even got a hold of some machines and started tattooing my friends. Before I knew it Paul and the X Body family accepted me as one of their own and I soon became an apprentice.
I’ve been tattooing for a little more than two years now and it’s been nothing but awesome! I enjoy doing organic and watercolor tattoo. I plan to be specializing in black and gray realism/portraits within a few years.
